South African Tv Personality Removed From Flight Over Unruly Behaviour

South African TV personality Shamiso Mosaka, known for her work with MTV Base South Africa, was recently involved in a controversial incident that led to her removal from a CemAir flight from Durban to Johannesburg. The airline cited her failure to adhere to safety regulations as the reason behind her removal. The situation caused a delay of over 90 minutes, prompting the intervention of local police.

Ms. Mosaka documented the entire ordeal on Instagram Live, where she can often be found interacting with her more than 140,000 followers. In the video, she can be seen resisting police orders to disembark from the plane, insisting that she would only leave if the airline provided her with another flight, a request that was denied.

The influencer alleged that she was a target of racial profiling, claiming that the cabin crew did not adequately explain why she was being asked to leave. However, CemAir’s Chief Financial Officer, Laura van der Molen, refuted these claims, stating that there was no racial profiling involved. She clarified that Ms. Mosaka’s removal was a result of her refusal to comply with the airline’s regulations.

Following the incident, CemAir has referred the matter to South African authorities for further investigation and action. The altercation took place at King Shaka Zulu International Airport, adding to the controversy surrounding the incident.
