Alfa Romeo Giulia Stelvio Recall

Detroit, MI – Stellantis is recalling 53,849 Alfa Romeo vehicles in the U.S. due to potentially faulty fuel pumps. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall affecting certain 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio models on Tuesday.

The issue arises from fuel pumps that may contain components prone to heat damage, which could lead to reduced fuel supply and sudden power loss. This raises the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA. The company has reported 437 complaints regarding the issue, including five crashes and three injuries linked to the defect.

Stellantis plans to develop a remedy for the fuel pump issue. Interim owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed by October 29. Once a final remedy is established, a further notification will be sent to vehicle owners.

The recall specifically includes 29,467 Giulia vehicles produced between September 2, 2016, and June 26, 2019, and 24,382 Stelvio models manufactured from April 12, 2017, to June 26, 2019. Customers may notice the Malfunction Indicator Light illuminate before issues arise, which indicates a risk of engine fuel starvation.

Drivers who own affected vehicles can reach out to FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for assistance. The NHTSA has also set up a vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for further inquiries.
