Top Oktoberfest Celebrations Across the United States
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Oktoberfest is a cherished tradition in the United States, celebrating German culture with beer, food, and fun activities. Major cities and small towns across the country host their own versions of this festival each fall, reflecting a rich heritage dating back to 1810 in Munich, Germany.
One of the largest and most famous events is Oktoberfest Zinzinnati in Cincinnati, drawing over 800,000 attendees. The celebration features five stages of live music, traditional German foods, and the quirky ‘wiener dog race’ where pups don hot dog costumes. This year’s event promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with Gemütlichkeit Games and dancing.
La Crosse, Wisconsin, boasts the oldest Oktoberfest in the U.S., celebrating since 1961 and attracting visitors for its family-friendly activities, including the Oktoberfest Royal Family, a festive parade, and the Maple Leaf Parade.
In Denver, Colorado, Oktoberfest runs for two weekends, offering craft beer lovers a chance to taste specially brewed Amber Bock while soaking in local music and participating in keg bowling and stein-holding contests.
Helen, Georgia, transforms into a Bavarian-style village during its Oktoberfest, featuring authentic food, craft beers, and lively bands. Families can enjoy Oktoberfest at this picturesque venue, which is lively from September through November.
Washington State’s Leavenworth also hosts its own Oktoberfest, focusing on family fun and sustainability, offering a range of local and imported brews alongside kid-friendly activities.
Other notable celebrations include Big Bear Lake, California; New Ulm, Minnesota; and Fredericksburg, Texas, each bringing community and culture to life through unique programming and festive spirits. With events dedicated to traditional crafts, music, and competitions, Oktoberfest remains a joyful celebration in various forms across the nation.
