Trump Challenges Young Democrats to Take Cognitive Test He Aced
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump claimed he outperformed two younger Democratic representatives on a cognitive test during a press interaction aboard Air Force One on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Speaking to reporters, Trump, 79, referred to Representatives Jasmine Crockett and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as having ‘low IQs’ and challenged them to take the same examination he completed at Walter Reed Medical Center. ‘Let AOC go against Trump. I don’t think Jasmine — the first couple questions are easy: a tiger, an elephant, a giraffe, you know,’ he said.
The assessment Trump appeared to reference was the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a test used to identify dementia signs. According to reports, Trump’s doctor stated he received a perfect score during his annual exam at Walter Reed.
In a previous 2020 interview, Trump described a part of the test, saying, ‘It’s person, woman, man, camera, TV.’ He emphasized that recalling the words in order was particularly challenging.
Dr. Ziad Nasreddine, the neurologist who developed the MoCA, has clarified that the evaluation should not be mistaken for an intelligence test. ‘There are no studies showing that this test is correlated to IQ tests,’ he stated.
Trump also spoke about recent medical evaluations, citing an MRI he received earlier this month, which he reported was ‘perfect,’ although details about the MRI were not fully disclosed.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Trump persists in his emphasis on cognitive testing, seemingly to assert his mental acuity against his young opponents. Skepticism remains about the relevance of such exams in judging intelligence or fitness for office.
