Victoria, Texas – The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) has earned the title of Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction from the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) for the second consecutive year. This achievement reflects VISD’s commitment to providing high-quality education and promoting student success.

Dena Justice, the CTE Director at VISD, expressed pride in the district’s accomplishments. “This recognition highlights strong program outcomes such as high student engagement and successful transitions to college and careers,” Justice said. This acknowledgment emphasizes both student achievements and the district’s commitment to ongoing improvement and innovation in CTE.

The CTE program at VISD includes 23 distinct programs across 12 career clusters. This diverse range of options allows students to gain skills relevant to various professions, preparing them for future careers.

The CTE District of Distinction honor enhances relationships with local community partners and opens up opportunities for collaboration with educational and workforce development leaders. “It signals that the district is a trusted partner in preparing a skilled talent pipeline,” Justice stated, highlighting the importance of this recognition.

While the CTAT distinction does not provide direct funding, it increases the visibility of VISD’s CTE programs. This visibility may help strengthen future funding applications and partnership opportunities. The selection criteria for this honor included innovative programming, industry-based certifications, and alignment with workforce needs.

<p“Earning and maintaining this distinction validates our efforts to provide meaningful, real-world learning experiences,” Justice added. VISD prioritizes ongoing professional development for CTE instructors and ensures educators have access to modern equipment and instructional technology. Regular reviews of the curriculum help maintain alignment with state standards.

Justice emphasized the role of data-driven decision-making and student feedback in evaluating the program’s effectiveness. “Our goal is to keep the CTE programs rigorous and responsive to student interests and workforce demands,” she concluded.
