Inmate Grant Hardin Escapes from Calico Rock Correctional Unit

CALICO ROCK, Ark. — Around 3:40 p.m. on May 25, inmate Grant Hardin escaped from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. Arkansas State Police (ASP) are asking anyone with information on Hardin’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
Hardin, 39, has been at the facility since 2017, serving a 30-year sentence for first-degree murder and an additional sentence for rape. He had previously served as the police chief for the city of Gateway.
The Arkansas Department of Corrections is currently collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to follow leads in the ongoing search for Hardin. They have encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that could assist in his recapture.
In a statement released earlier today, an ASP spokesperson said, “Our teams are actively investigating the escape and are committed to bringing Mr. Hardin back into custody.”
The situation remains fluid, and more updates will be provided as information becomes available. Authorities assure that safety is their top priority and that they are working diligently on this case.
