VALORANT Season 2025 Act IV Launches with Major Patch 11.0 Changes

Los Angeles, CA — Riot Games has announced the launch of VALORANT Season 2025 Act IV, introducing significant changes in Patch 11.0. Scheduled for release on June 25, 2025, the patch features a major overhaul of agent abilities, a new competitive map named Corrode, and an array of cosmetic items aimed at enhancing both casual and competitive gameplay.
Patch 11.0 focuses on balancing duelist and initiator agents. The newly introduced agent Waylay benefits from multiple buffs, including increased effect area and activation speed while attempting to boost her playability among users. Phoenix, Neon, and Reyna are adjusted downward to present players with fairer counterplay opportunities. Phoenix’s Flash Curveball will wind up more slowly, making it easier to avoid, while Reyna’s health points are reduced to diminish her survivability during engagements.
Game developers aim to shift the current ability-heavy meta back toward precise gunplay. This evolution will allow for enhanced balancing among agents, as the new updates offer both buffs and nerfs to promote fairness. Players have expressed concerns about the overly utility-driven gameplay, prompting the need for such adjustments.
Alongside agent adjustments, the highlight of the patch is the new competitive map, Corrode. Set in a deserted coastal environment, Corrode introduces open lanes and minimal cover, encouraging players to engage in direct combat more frequently. As part of this update, Pearl and Split will exit the competitive rotation, with Corrode taking its place alongside the returning map Bind.
Corrode includes a simple three-lane layout aimed at traditional FPS combat, which Lead Map Designer Joey Simas describes as a response to player feedback regarding overwhelming utility. The design encourages more nuanced strategies and responsive gameplay, ultimately benefitting defenders on the map.
Players will also experience reduced SR penalties for their initial games on Corrode to allow a smoother adaptation. A dedicated Swiftplay queue for Corrode will be available until June 30, 2025, providing additional chances for players to familiarize themselves with the new map.
Riot Games’s commitment to refining gameplay is captured in these notable updates, with Patch 11.0 set to transform the competitive landscape in VALORANT.
