Damian Priest Wwe Rising Star

STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE Hall of Famer Brian 'Road Dogg' James has named Damian Priest as the modern era’s closest thing to The Undertaker. The D-Generation X legend shared this during an interview while discussing the current roster.

James, one of the co-lead writers for WWE’s SmackDown, praised Priest, who recently transitioned from the Judgment Day to SmackDown. James said, “I’d have to pick Rhea Ripley for sure, and Damian Priest. Damian reminds me a lot of a younger Undertaker.” He also mentioned others he would include in his version of D-Generation X, like Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford.

After breaking away from the Judgment Day last year, Priest, now 42, became one of WWE’s top babyfaces. He held the World Heavyweight Championship for 118 days, but his momentum has waned since moving to SmackDown this past year. He previously faced Aleister Black in a rivalry, recently losing to him two weeks ago.

Road Dogg has been a long-time supporter of Priest, especially during his time in NXT. In earlier statements, he noted, “Think about the people that Damian Priest is surrounded by — Finn Balor, Rhea, Dom — and he’s stepping out and shining. I predict he’ll be a Universal Champion one day.” However, Priest’s recent omission from the SummerSlam match card surprised many.

Despite struggles to regain a title opportunity, his impressive past performances at major events continue to resonate with fans. Road Dogg’s faith in his potential hints at a promising future in the company for Priest.
