Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy Face Challenges on Dancing With the Stars

LOS ANGELES, California – TikTok star Alix Earle is pushing through intense rehearsals for the hit show Dancing With the Stars, partnered with veteran dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. The duo is preparing for the highly anticipated TikTok Night, a challenge that has taken Earle far beyond her comfort zone.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Earle shared her struggles during practice, revealing that the process has often left her in tears. “It does just get frustrating sometimes and it’s just unlocking like a different side for me,” Earle said. “I’m so out of my comfort zone doing this stuff.” The 24-year-old admitted that imitating Chmerkovskiy’s fluid movements can be especially challenging, adding, “I look like a scarecrow right now.”

Chmerkovskiy, who described himself as a “late bloomer” on TikTok, is adapting to the platform’s demands while encouraging Earle through their rehearsals. “I resisted it for so long,” the 39-year-old said. “But now, this is where all the cool kids are.” The duo plans to incorporate elements from both their styles into their routine, starting with Earle’s TikTok content and transitioning into a traditional quickstep choreographed by Chmerkovskiy.

Earle recognizes her biggest competition is herself, stating, “Trying to beat myself and one-up myself every week is what I’m focused on.” While she finds the skill level of her fellow competitors intimidating, she also sees it as motivation to improve. “I have to work overtime to keep up with everyone,” she explained.

Chmerkovskiy draws strength from his home life, where his wife, fellow dancer Jenna Johnson, provides support. Although Johnson was eliminated early in the season, Chmerkovskiy said, “We both have been on the show for so long that we try to recalibrate our personal life to not just revolve around our professional life.”

The journey on Dancing With the Stars tests both partners in resilience and adaptability. Earle’s experience showcases the immense effort behind each glamorous performance, highlighting the emotional and physical challenges faced by contestants.
