Blues Set to Start New Season Against Wild at Home

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The St. Louis Blues are ready to kick off the 2025-26 NHL season on Thursday night as they host the Minnesota Wild at Enterprise Center. The puck drops at 7 p.m. local time.
This season generates excitement for the Blues, who finished last season with a strong 96-point record and returned to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a two-year hiatus. Fans are eager to see how the team will build on that success.
The Blues have made key additions to their roster, including center Pius Suter, a 29-year-old from Switzerland. Suter joins St. Louis after setting career highs in goals (25) and points (46) last season with the Vancouver Canucks. He will wear No. 22 and is expected to play on the third line with Jake Neighbours and Mathieu Joseph.
Veteran center Nick Bjugstad also joins the lineup, centering Alexey Toropchenko and Nathan Walker. Bjugstad, who has played 760 NHL games with teams like Florida, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and Arizona, signed a two-year deal with the Blues after Radek Faksa left for Dallas via free agency.
On the defensive side, Logan Mailloux, a promising 22-year-old, arrives in St. Louis through a trade with Montreal. He is anticipated to slot in on the third pairing alongside Tyler Tucker.
Injury reports mention that Torey Krug is out for the season due to an ankle injury, and Oskar Sundqvist is out with a lower body issue. Meanwhile, Milan Lucic is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
Fans planning to attend the game can arrive early, as the doors open at 3 p.m. to allow time for warmups, set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The projected lineup for Thursday includes forwards Pavel Buchnevich, Robert Thomas, and Jimmy Snuggerud, alongside Dylan Holloway, Brayden Schenn, and Jordan Kyrou. The defense pairs will feature Cam Fowler with Colton Parayko, and Philip Broberg with Justin Faulk. Goalie duties will be handled by Jordan Binnington.
