BVB Faces RB Leipzig in Bundesliga Showdown Amid Roster Changes

Dortmund, Germany – Borussia Dortmund is set to battle RB Leipzig today in the Bundesliga at 3:30 PM local time. Coach Niko Kovac has made four changes to the starting lineup following the team’s 4-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Maximilian Beier, Yan Couto, Felix Nmecha, and Nico Schlotterbeck will replace Niklas Süle, Julian Ryerson, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Jobe Bellingham in the lineup. Notably, Bellingham, a key summer transfer, will again start from the bench after not playing from the start in recent matches.
The starting formation for BVB features Gregor Kobel in goal, supported by a defensive trio of Waldemar Anton, Schlotterbeck, and Ramy Bensebaini. In midfield, Marcel Sabitzer will be joined by Couto, Nmecha, and Svensson, while Beier and Karim Adeyemi will provide support to forward Serhou Guirassy.
RB Leipzig will counter with their lineup, including goalkeeper Peter Gulasci and a defensive four of Ridle Baku, Willi Orban, Castello Lukeba, and David Raum. The midfield will comprise Nicolas Seiwald, Ouedraogo, and Baumgartlinger, with forwards Bakayoko, Romulo, and Nusa leading the attack.
As BVB prepares for this crucial match, attention turns to their recent performance. Coach Kovac has attributed the squad’s success to effective rotation, a strategy he used in the matchup against Bilbao. “We are on a really good path,” said Sebastian Kehl, underscoring the team’s strong record of only one loss in their last 18 competitive matches.
Schlotterbeck found himself on the bench for the Bilbao game, despite having recently returned from injury, only to be subbed on for the last 20 minutes. He expressed understanding of the coach’s decision, stating, “As a player, you always want to play, but it was probably the right choice.” Looking ahead, he is eager to play against Leipzig. “I expect to play, and we need to win,” he said.
Marcel Sabitzer, who managed to secure a starting role in midfield this season, commented on rumors surrounding potential transfers, dismissing them. “I feel comfortable here,” he stated, as he aims to further solidify his position within the team.
