Community Foundation Emphasizes Virtues with Weekly Focus on Certitude

The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, in collaboration with the Virtues Project, is highlighting the importance of virtues in the community by focusing on a different virtue each week. This week’s virtue in the spotlight is Certitude, a quality that promotes faith, confidence, and certainty in individuals.

The concept of Certitude encourages individuals to take bold steps forward, secure in their beliefs and decisions, and trust that things will turn out well. It involves a deep exploration of beliefs through reflection and contemplation, leading to decisive actions with assurance and perseverance.

Quoting artist Paul Gauguin, who found peace in the certitude of life, the emphasis is on fostering faith in one’s beliefs, not allowing external factors to dictate values, taking leadership in one’s life, and acting with confidence and perseverance in service of a purpose.

The Virtues Project, initiated by a passionate team at Virtues Matter, aims to inspire and empower individuals to lead lives filled with passion and purpose. Their goal is to create a world where kindness, respect, and unity prevail. The initiative offers various programs, including interactive workshops and an app called Virtues Cards, to help individuals develop key virtue skills.

Founded in 1990, the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands has been dedicated to bringing about positive change in the territory, focusing on youth, education, family support, and the environment. The Foundation, supported by donations, grants, and community leaders, advocates for programs that ensure opportunities and sustainability for both current and future generations.

Through the focus on virtues such as Certitude, the Community Foundation and the Virtues Project continue to work towards building a more peaceful and caring community, where individuals uphold moral principles, act with confidence, and lead lives of purpose and meaning.
