Cooper DeJean Launches Cereal to Support Iowa Children’s Hospital

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Former Hawkeye football player Cooper DeJean has announced the launch of his new cereal, Captain Coop’s Crunch, aimed at supporting the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The cereal debuted on Monday and can be found at select Hy-Vee and Dick’s Sporting Goods locations, as well as online.
Captain Coop’s Crunch features green crunch berries, which symbolize the colors of DeJean’s current team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Alongside the cereal, an accompanying cereal bowl is also available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the hospital, which specializes in pediatric care and research, offering support to patients from birth onward.
The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is notable for housing the Hawkeye Wave and is the only nationally ranked comprehensive children’s hospital in Iowa. DeJean emphasized the importance of the hospital’s work in his social media posts promoting his cereal.
Customers can purchase Captain Coop’s Crunch in either two-pack or twelve-pack options, ranging in price from $24.95 to $119.95. The cereal bowl is priced at $8.99. Additionally, a QR code on the cereal box allows consumers to make direct donations to the hospital, further supporting its mission.
Originally from Odebolt, Iowa, DeJean played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2021 to 2023, before joining the NFL in 2024 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
