Delhi Schools To Close For Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Ceremony

The Delhi government has announced the closure of morning or general shift schools in the city on Monday in observance of the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. In an order issued by the Directorate of Education, it was stated that all government and aided schools running in the general and morning shifts would remain closed on January 22, 2024. However, evening shift schools will start at 2:30 p.m. and operate as per their usual timings.

This decision was taken in light of the significance of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, which will be held on Monday. The ceremony holds great religious and cultural importance for the devotees of Lord Ram. The Delhi government aims to provide an opportunity for students and staff to participate in the celebrations and observe this auspicious occasion.

In addition to Delhi, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has also declared a half-day holiday in the Union territory on January 22. This decision aligns with the central government’s directive to grant a half-day holiday to its employees on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration event in Ayodhya. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions issued the order, which is being followed by various states.

Moreover, other states such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Goa have also announced public holidays and office closures to mark this momentous event. Goa, for instance, has declared January 22 as a public holiday, with government offices and schools closed. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh has observed a dry day across the state on January 22 to honor the Ram Mandir’s inauguration.

The decision to close schools and government offices on the day of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony reflects the importance and reverence with which this event is viewed by the people. It allows individuals to participate in the festivities, ceremonies, and rituals associated with the consecration of the revered Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
