The South African Senior Women’s National Team, popularly known as Banyana Banyana, secured a convincing 2-0 victory over a ten-player Senegal in an international friendly match at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal.

Amogelang Motau displayed her skills by netting a stunning free-kick in the 13th minute, setting the tone for Banyana Banyana’s dominance. Noxolo Cesane added to the lead with a goal in the 43rd minute.

At halftime, head coach Desiree Ellis implemented strategic changes, introducing players like Linda Motlhalo and Sibulele Holweni. Senegal also made substitutions in an attempt to shift the momentum of the game.

Thubelihle Shamase made an appearance in the 62nd minute, further reinforcing Banyana’s attacking prowess.

The pressure exerted by Banyana forced Senegal to resort to physical play, resulting in Sylla Coumba receiving a red card in the 67th minute for a dangerous challenge that led to an injury to goalkeeper Kaylin Swart.

Swart, unable to continue, was replaced by Kebotseng Moletsane in the 72nd minute, earning her fourth official cap for Banyana Banyana. Additionally, Ramalepe and Hadebe made way for Dhlamini and Nokoane in the 75th minute.
