October FIFA Date Key for Teams Seeking 2026 World Cup Spots
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The October FIFA date in 2025 is crucial for national teams vying for a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. This event marks the penultimate window for qualifiers as teams from Africa, Europe, Asia, and CONCACAF hope to secure their tickets.
Currently, 19 teams are confirmed for the tournament, including hosts Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. In Africa, key nations like Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, and Senegal are poised to confirm their advancement this month. Meanwhile, UEFA teams including France, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, and England may finally seal their fate as well.
Honduras and Jamaica from CONCACAF could clinch their spots with essential victories. As for Asia, as many as six teams, including Indonesia, Iran, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, are competing for direct qualifications.
The draw for the 2026 World Cup will take place on December 5 in the United States, following the international friendlies in November. This tournament will feature 48 teams, and with every squad neck-deep in qualifying matches, excitement is rising.
As of now, the confirmed teams include Canada, Mexico, the United States, Australia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, South Korea, Japan, Morocco, Tunisia, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, and New Zealand.
