Firehouse Subs Pooler Veterans Day Incident

A significant backlash has erupted against a Firehouse Subs location in Pooler, Georgia, following reports of rude and disrespectful treatment of veterans on Veterans Day. The incident occurred when a family, including veteran parents, visited the restaurant to take advantage of a special offer providing free meals to veterans and active-duty service members. However, they were allegedly spoken to rudely by the owner, who used expletives and complained about the cost of the special promotion.

The family, who had been looking forward to a free meal consisting of a medium sub, chips or a cookie, and a drink, were made to feel uncomfortable and ultimately asked to leave the restaurant. The owner’s behavior, which included name-calling and profanity, has sparked widespread outrage on social media. By Tuesday morning, the Pooler location’s Facebook page was flooded with over 100 negative comments criticizing the service and management.

The incident has gained significant attention, with many expressing their disbelief and disappointment. Firehouse Subs has acknowledged the situation on its corporate Facebook page, stating that their leadership teams are addressing the issue with the franchisee and the affected guests. Despite this, no response has been received from the Pooler location or Firehouse Subs’ media contacts as of Tuesday noon.

In response to the backlash, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has pledged to donate $25,000 to a local organization as an apology and to show support to the Pooler veteran community.

The public outcry has led to calls for the Pooler location to be closed, highlighting the severity of the incident and the community’s reaction to the mistreatment of veterans on a day dedicated to honoring their service).
