Flooding Emergency Declared In South Florida As Heavy Rainfall Persists

Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a State of Emergency in Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade, and Sarasota counties in response to the severe flooding in South Florida. The Florida Division of Emergency Management is actively coordinating response efforts with the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and the State Emergency Response Team as tropical moisture from Invest 90L continues to bring heavy rainfall.

Various state agencies, including the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Highway Patrol, FloridaCommerce, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Office of Financial Regulation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Education, and many others, are working together to address the flooding impacts in South Florida.

The Florida Department of Transportation is providing updates on current road conditions, seaports, airports, rail services, and transit. Meanwhile, the Florida Highway Patrol is ensuring safety on the roads, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is supporting law enforcement efforts during this emergency.

Other agencies involved include the Office of Financial Regulation, the Florida State Guard, the Department of Elder Affairs, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and more, all working towards managing the impact of the flooding caused by Invest 90L in South Florida.
