Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Son Nakul May Be on the Verge of Joining BJP
Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, and his son, Nakul Nath, seem to be considering a switch from the Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Reports surrounding the potential move intensified as Nakul Nath updated his social media profiles to remove the ‘Congress’ association, sparking rumors about a shift to the BJP.
Kamal Nath, a veteran politician who previously served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and held key positions within the Congress party, including as the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief, is at the center of these speculations.
According to unverified sources, there are indications that both Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath are contemplating pivotal roles within the BJP, signaling a significant political realignment in Madhya Pradesh.
Recent developments including the cancellation of Kamal Nath’s scheduled visit to Chhindwara and a tweet by BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja featuring the duo with the caption ‘Jai Shri Ram’ have added fuel to the speculation surrounding the party switch.
Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma suggested that there may be a shifting landscape with the BJP welcoming those who have felt sidelined by the Congress, particularly mentioning the recent incident regarding the ‘Pran Pratishtha‘ ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.
In contrast, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has refuted claims about Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath joining the BJP, highlighting Kamal Nath’s extensive political history, loyalty to the Nehru-Gandhi family, and the unlikeliness of leaving the Congress party for the BJP.
