Four Dead in Fiery Taconic State Parkway Crash

New Castle, New York – A two-vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway resulted in four fatalities Wednesday evening, according to state police.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near mile marker 9.2. Police say a Sprinter van traveling south crossed the center median into the northbound lanes, colliding with a Honda sedan in the passing lane.
The impact caused the van to overturn and ignite in flames. Three individuals inside the van were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Honda was transported to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
As of late Wednesday night, the driver of the Sprinter van remains hospitalized in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center. Their identity, along with those of the deceased, has not yet been released.
The northbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway were closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. Motorists reported heavy traffic delays during this time.
