Heidi Powell And Dave Hollis

Dave Hollis, the former Disney executive and self-help author, has been remembered by his ex-partner Heidi Powell through a poignant revelation of their final text messages. In an appearance on the Him & Her podcast on November 13, Powell shared the last texts she received from Hollis before his death on February 11, 2023. Hollis, who was 47 at the time of his death, passed away due to an accidental overdose of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol.

Powell, a fitness trainer, described the conversations she had with Hollis as ‘amazing’ and noted that they ‘never stopped talking until the night he died.’ The final texts, sent on the day of her son’s birthday, were particularly insightful and emotional. Hollis expressed his deep feelings, acknowledging the complexity of their relationship and the impact on their children. Powell recalled that Hollis wrote, ‘Hey, you know, coming to grips with where you and I are … I’m not just losing you. You’re not just losing me…. We’re losing our kids.’ These messages provided her with what she described as ‘beautiful closure’.

Hollis and Powell began dating in 2020 after Hollis’s split from his ex-wife Rachel Hollis, with whom he had four children. Despite their strong connection, the couple faced significant challenges, including living in different states with their children. Powell mentioned that they broke up several times and never discussed the possibility of marriage due to the practical difficulties of their situation.

Powell also reflected on the challenges Hollis faced in their relationship, suggesting that when issues arose, he would often make decisions to heal for her rather than for himself. Eventually, the couple broke up for good, and Hollis entered treatment. Powell had previously spoken about Hollis’s death in an Instagram video in April 2023, where she acknowledged the complexities of their relationship and the impact of his passing.
