James Comer Trump Allegations Epstein Investigation

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) defended President Trump during discussions on the Epstein Files Transparency Act today. Comer pointed out that Democrats misrepresented evidence in their attempts to attack Trump, arguing that their claims about the Epstein investigation were false.

In a speech to the House, Comer underscored the Oversight Committee’s detailed examination of the federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. He stressed that the focus should be on justice for survivors rather than partisan allegations against Trump.

“For years, the American people have demanded transparency about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s horrific crimes,” Comer said. “The House Oversight Committee is committed to accountability and transparency for the American people and for the survivors of these appalling crimes.” The committee has released over 65,000 pages of documents and conducted interviews with key witnesses in the case.

Comer criticized Democrats for what he called a manufactured anti-Trump narrative. He referenced statements from former U.S. Attorney General William Barr, who found no evidence of wrongdoing by Trump during the 2019 Epstein investigation. Despite Barr’s findings, Democrat Robert Garcia claimed that Barr could not clear Trump.

During interviews, former U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta corroborated the lack of evidence linking Trump to Epstein, affirming there was no contact between the two. Comer lamented the Democrats’ hype around this narrative, claiming it was intended to discredit Trump without basis.

The chairman also highlighted issues surrounding document releases. He noted that while Republicans presented 65,000 pages of documents, Democrats had only shared a fraction of that information, often with redactions that altered meaning. CNN called attention to these edits, leading representatives Melanie Stansbury and Jasmine Crockett to deflect blame.

Comer stated that Democrats have maintained a double standard, advocating for transparency only when it aligns with their views. He revealed that some of the emails related to Epstein showed collusion between a House Democrat and Epstein to discredit witnesses.

He added that former President Bill Clinton‘s deposition is necessary for the ongoing investigation, and expressed disappointment that Democrats have not supported this effort. “The Democrats’ latest anti-Trump hoax has collapsed,” he declared, pointing to past political narratives that had similarly fallen apart.

In closing, Comer reinforced his commitment to transparency and the accountability of the Oversight Committee. He urged Democrats to focus on true justice for the survivors of Epstein’s crimes and to abandon what he calls their ongoing hoaxes.
