Louis Philippe Sauvé Election

Louis-Philippe Sauvé is the newly elected Member of Parliament for the LaSalle-Émard-Verdun constituency. He secured his victory with 8,884 votes, accounting for 28% of the total 79,966 registered voters.

In a press briefing held this Tuesday, Yves-François Blanchet, leader of the Bloc Québécois, commented on this victory, stating, “By electing a Bloc Québécois MP, the people of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun are sending a strong message to the federal government. Respecting Quebec’s priorities is essential, and the more Bloc MPs there are in Ottawa, the more strongly Quebecers’ choices will be asserted.”

Mr. Blanchet expressed his happiness with the choice made by the voters of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun. “Louis-Philippe is diligent, competent, and a hard worker, but most importantly, he has his heart in the right place and will always make time for his constituents. I am confident that Louis-Philippe will effectively support the citizens of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun, and as I know him well, he will live up to the trust placed in him,” he promised.

A judicial recount or contest of this by-election is possible, though not obligatory. According to Elections Canada, a judicial recount only occurs automatically if the leading candidates are tied after the results are validated, or if the margin between them is less than one-thousandth of the total votes cast in the constituency.

However, a recount may be requested by any voter if they provide evidence that the count was incorrect, that ballots were wrongly rejected, that the number on the election report for an individual candidate’s votes is inaccurate, or that the returning officer miscounted the votes.
