Lynx and Liberty Clash in Exciting WNBA Rematch This Weekend

NEW YORK, Aug. 15, 2025 – The Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty will meet on Saturday, August 16, at 1:00 PM CT for a high-stakes rematch of last year’s WNBA Finals.
Fans can watch the game live on ABC and stream it on FuboTV. Both teams currently lead their respective conferences, with the Lynx holding a record of 26-5 and the Liberty at 20-10.
The Lynx are riding a four-game win streak, having recently defeated the Washington Mystics 80-76. Star forward Alanna Smith scored 25 points in that game, supported by Courtney Williams with 14 points and five assists.
However, the Lynx will be without their key player, Napheesa Collier, who is doubtful due to a right ankle sprain. She was ruled out for at least two weeks following an MRI, but the Lynx remain confident in their depth, particularly the performance of sharpshooter Kayla McBride.
On the other side, the Liberty will also miss significant players, including 2023 MVP Breanna Stewart, who is recovering from a bone bruise in her knee. Stewart is expected to be sidelined until at least August 28. In her absence, Sabrina Ionescu has stepped up, averaging 19.9 points, while Jonquel Jones leads the team in rebounds with 8.8 per game.
The matchup promises excitement as both teams look to assert dominance in the league. Despite injuries, both squads have showcased their scoring abilities and defensive strategies, making this rematch one to watch.
The game will take place at Target Center in Minneapolis, and fans are eager to see whether the Lynx can maintain their superior record and fend off the Liberty’s attempt to even the season series.
