MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Montclair educator Drury Thorp has been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to education. Thorp, who teaches at Watchung Elementary School, is recognized for her innovative teaching style that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and civic involvement among her students.

In 2023, Thorp received the prestigious Jud for her dedication to student-centered learning. Her methods have sparked interest and enthusiasm in various subjects, making her a beloved figure in the Montclair community.

The New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2025 features a diverse group of honorees, including notable figures such as pioneering broadcast journalist Mary Alice Williams, CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash, and culinary innovator David Burke. Musicians like the Jonas Brothers and sports icons including Olympic hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone are also recognized this year.

Additionally, community leaders like Lieutenant Governor Sheila Y. Oliver and former Treasury Secretary William Edward Simon have been acknowledged for their service. NJHOF Chairman Jon F. Hanson remarked, “From world-renowned talents to community leaders, this year’s honorees reflect the full spectrum of what it means to be a hero.”

The 17th Annual NJ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on November 21 at The Rink @ The Arena at American Dream in East Rutherford. Award-winning actor and filmmaker Danny DeVito is set to host the ceremony.
