New Trailer and Poster for Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ Release Soon

LOS ANGELES, CA — Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated adaptation of ‘Frankenstein’ is set to hit select theaters on October 17, 2025, followed by its Netflix premiere on November 7, 2025. Ahead of the release, Netflix will unveil the final trailer tomorrow, October 1, and has already shared a new official poster showcasing Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s Monster.
The poster marks the first clear look at Elordi portraying the iconic creature, which draws heavily from Mary Shelley’s original novel rather than the classic 1931 film adaptation. Notably, Oscar Isaac stars as the ambitious scientist Victor Frankenstein, while Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz play key roles as Elizabeth Lavenza and Dr. Pretorius, respectively.
This film unfolds the story of Victor Frankenstein, a talented yet egotistical scientist who creates a creature, leading to disastrous consequences for both creator and creation. In commentary on the film, Meagan Navarro remarks that del Toro’s grasp of the creature’s emotional depth allows Elordi’s performance to redefine the character as a profoundly human figure.
Elordi, who underwent an extensive makeup process to embody the creature, expressed his commitment to the role. He noted that del Toro emphasized the transformation as not just a physical change, but an emotional journey. ‘The Creature has always been pitiable and tragic, but that only grows more pronounced through Elordi’s portrayal,’ Navarro says.
Del Toro highlighted the duality of the creator and creature within the story, sharing that his own experiences reflect both roles. He stated, ‘It’s about seeing yourself as both a father and a son… Aren’t we all?’ This deeper genetic intent distinguishes del Toro’s approach from other adaptations.
With Elordi’s rising star and del Toro’s reputation for complex, emotionally charged narratives, ‘Frankenstein’ promises to be a fresh lens on Shelley’s timeless tale of creation and empathy. The buzz around the October 17 theatrical release and the subsequent Netflix drop on November 7 is palpable, as fans eagerly await the full trailer and the haunting story it will bring.
