U.s. Open Tennis Matches 2025

Flushing Meadows, New York – The 2025 U.S. Open continued on Day 2 with a full slate of exciting first-round matches. Players battled on three show courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Notably, the legendary Venus Williams made her main-draw singles return at age 45, while No. 6 seed Madison Keys aimed for a strong showing after winning her first Grand Slam title earlier this year.

Madison Keys faced off against unseeded Renata Zarazúa from Mexico. In a thrilling match, Keys was stunned by Zarazúa, who claimed her first top-10 victory, winning in three sets 6-7(10), 7-6(3), 7-5. Zarazúa expressed her joy, stating, “I’m very happy… I know my game is tricky.”

Frances Tiafoe, seeded 17th, kicked off his campaign against Yoshihito Nishioka. Tiafoe, who reached the semifinals last year, expressed his excitement for playing at home, stating he wants to “compete” and “go hard.” However, Nishioka has had a competitive edge in previous encounters, winning their last match.

Venus Williams, a wild card entry, faced the 11th seed Karolína Muchová. This matchup marked Williams’ 25th singles appearance at the U.S. Open, but she faced a tough challenge against the skilled Czech player, who has reached semifinals in recent years.

In other matches, No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz took on Reilly Opelka, marking their first meeting. Alcaraz, a former U.S. Open champion, aims to reclaim the title, while Opelka’s powerful serve poses a unique challenge.

Barbora Krejčíková, a two-time Grand Slam champion, faced rising star Victoria Mboko. Mboko has quickly risen in the rankings after a recent victory at the Canadian Open, making this matchup highly anticipated.

Additional matches throughout the day featured players like Jack Draper and Andrey Rublev, with both seeking deep runs in the tournament. The electric atmosphere at Arthur Ashe Stadium set the stage for a thrilling Day 2.

As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly look forward to more surprises and unforgettable moments at the U.S. Open.
