Performance Issues Haunt Borderlands 4 on PS5 Pro and PC
LOS ANGELES, CA — Players of Borderlands 4 are experiencing significant performance issues on consoles, particularly the PS5 Pro. Reports indicate players are facing frame rate drops and stuttering during gameplay, with issues becoming worse after extended play sessions. Gearbox Software, the game’s developer, is aware of the situation and is working on a fix.
Randy Pitchford, Gearbox’s CEO, acknowledged on social media that the performance drops on PS5 Pro are a known issue. He recommended a temporary workaround: quitting the game and restarting it. “Known issue of perf dropping on PS5 pro after several hours of continuous play,” he wrote. “Sorry for the friction!”
Many gamers have taken to platforms like Steam to voice their frustration about the game’s performance. Despite high player numbers, Borderlands 4 currently holds a mixed review rating. Players are particularly critical of the game’s stutter problems, which tech experts have noted, advising against playing at its highest “Badass” graphics setting.
On the development side, Graeme Timmins, the game’s creative director, stated that the team is investigating concerns that some players attribute to a potential memory leak. “We are pretty sure we have an idea here, but nothing to confirm,” he said.
Gearbox has already released a launch update for PC users intended to address some issues, although results have varied. Alongside addressing performance, developers are also encouraging PC gamers to make use of settings adjustments and Nvidia’s optimization tools for better gameplay.
The situation escalated further as Pitchford responded to community complaints, encouraging gamers to tweak their settings or consider lower resolutions. He explained the balance between frame rate, resolution, and graphics quality is crucial. “If you aren’t happy with the balance between these things you are experiencing, please tune to your preferences using the tools available to you,” he stated.
As the situation develops, players await a more comprehensive patch from Gearbox to resolve ongoing performance issues. In the meantime, players seeking improvements to their gaming experience are encouraged to keep their software updated and monitor the company’s communication channels for the latest guidance.
