Potential Sequel for ‘Parent Trap’ Discussed at Emmy Awards
Los Angeles, CA — Walter and Elaine Hendrix, who starred in the 1998 film ‘Parent Trap,’ walked the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 14. During their time at the event, they discussed the possibility of a sequel to the beloved film.
Walter, who played housekeeper Chessy, sparked interest by teasing, “I mean, are you listening, Disney?” regarding a potential ‘Parent Trap 2.’ Hendrix, known for her role as the villainous Meredith Blake, quickly chimed in, noting, “Yeah, a lot of people talk about it. A lot of people want it. We’re totally game.”
The conversation took a lighthearted turn when Hendrix mentioned putting in a call to Disney for a sequel to her film ‘Freaky Friday.’ They joked that perhaps Lindsay Lohan, who played the lead roles in both films, might have already reached out for ‘The Parent Trap’ sequel. “I think Lindsay may have already done that,” Walter said, while Hendrix added, “But we can neither confirm nor deny.”
Despite her character’s disastrous camping experience in the first film, Hendrix revealed her love for camping in real life. “As opposed to The Parent Trap. You would think Chessy would be the outdoorsy one,” Walter quipped, reflecting on her recent scenes camping in the woods for her role on ‘Abbott Elementary.’
Walter expressed her commitment to supporting Hendrix, saying, “I’m just trying to beg my production to get me out every Tuesday so I can be in the seat to watch her at 5 p.m. That’s my goal right now.” Hendrix enthusiastically replied, “My goal too! I need her there.”
‘Abbott Elementary’ has received numerous nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and has previously won four Emmys during its three-season run.
