London, UKPrince George made his debut at the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, alongside King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Catherine, Princess of Wales. The annual event, held at the Royal Albert Hall, commemorated those who lost their lives in military service, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The royals entered the concert hall to a standing audience and a fanfare, reflecting the solemn nature of the occasion. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria were also present, emphasizing the significance of remembering sacrifices made by armed forces members.

This year’s festival particularly acknowledged the 25th anniversary of the lifting of the ban on LGBT personnel serving in the military. Many veterans, including members of the LGBTQ+ charity Fighting With Pride, attended the event, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in honoring military service.

Twelve-year-old George sat next to his mother, Catherine, who wore a black dress adorned with a poppy pin, symbolizing remembrance. The King, ahead of Remembrance Sunday, will lead a nationwide silence to honor those who have served in various wars.

During the ceremony, the royal family applauded as Chelsea Pensioners—retired British Army veterans—performed, accompanied by military bands and artists including Sir Rod Stewart and Sam Ryder. Host Hannah Waddingham shared personal connections to service members, thanking veterans for their sacrifices.

Prince William was absent as he returned from Brazil, where he attended the Earthshot Prize Awards. However, he is expected to join the family for the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Sunday.

This gathering marks a poignant moment for the royal family, who have faced recent challenges including changes in royal titles and members stepping back from public duties. The Festival of Remembrance continues to be an important tradition as the nation prepares to honor its military history.
