The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued a reminder to social grant beneficiaries regarding the upcoming payment dates for October’s social grants. This announcement seeks to ensure that beneficiaries are well-informed and can plan accordingly.

According to SASSA, payments for the older person’s grants are scheduled to begin on Wednesday of this week. Disability grant recipients can expect their payments to be processed on the following day, Thursday.

The agency highlighted that beneficiaries should not feel compelled to rush to withdraw cash immediately on the payment day. “There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” the agency stated.

The complete payment schedule for October is as follows:

  • Older Persons/Pensioners’ Grant: Wednesday, 2 October
  • Disability Grant: Thursday, 3 October
  • Children’s Grant: Friday, 4 October

SASSA has also reaffirmed its commitment to provide “the right social grant, to the right person, at the right time and place.” This assurance is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to maintain trust and reliability in its services.

SASSA beneficiaries are able to access their payments through various channels. Payments can be collected at selected supermarkets including Pick n Pay, Boxer, USave merchants, Checkers, and Shoprite. Beneficiaries have the option to use their SASSA card or have the funds directly deposited into their bank accounts.
