Search Intensifies for Missing New Yorker in Turks and Caicos

GRACE BAY, Turks and Caicos — Brian Tarrence, a 51-year-old man from Monroe, New York, has been missing since he left his rental condo at the Paradise Inn in Grace Bay early on June 25. His wife reported he vanished around 3:30 a.m., raising concerns for his safety.
According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, surveillance footage confirmed that Tarrence was seen walking into town before his disappearance. “They seemed to be having a normal couple of days,” said Carl DeFazio, the family’s private investigator. “Then he basically disappears, and we haven’t heard from him since.”
Tarrence arrived in Turks and Caicos with his wife on June 22 for a vacation, which was scheduled to end on June 29. DeFazio noted that the area he went missing from is considered safe and has been cooperative in the search.
The investigation involves the use of drone technology and CCTV. DeFazio expressed optimism despite the lack of leads. “So far, we haven’t been successful, but we’re not giving up hope,” he said. “He left his rental with his phone and wallet, wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers.”
DeFazio described his efforts to retrieve Tarrence’s phone records as ongoing but time-consuming. The day before he went missing, he and his wife enjoyed a boat trip. When his wife woke up that morning, he was no longer in their condo.
The local community has rallied to support the search efforts, with businesses and vacationers assisting in disseminating missing persons flyers. While DeFazio has not identified any criminal activity related to Tarrence’s disappearance, he acknowledged that details remain scarce six days after the incident.
Turks and Caicos police are urging anyone with information about Tarrence’s whereabouts to contact 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.
