North Texas Severe Storms October 2025

DALLAS, Texas — Severe storms swept through North Texas on Friday evening, leaving about 30,000 customers without power. According to Oncor, over 400 outages were reported as the weather deteriorated.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Dallas County and Eastern Tarrant County, valid until 10:15 p.m. Meteorologists noted that storms were moving east at 45 mph, with a line stretching from near Keller to Arlington at approximately 9:20 p.m.

Forecasters indicated that areas including Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, and Grand Prairie would experience storms around 9:25 p.m. Meanwhile, Carrollton and Lancaster were expected to be affected by 9:30 p.m.

The warning highlighted that intense thunderstorm lines could produce brief tornadoes and widespread wind damage. “Severe storms may cause serious injuries and significant property damage,” the warning stated.

Damaging winds were reported in Tarrant County around Sycamore School and South Hulen, with gusts exceeding 50 mph. In light of the approaching storms, Oncor announced that crews would be assessing damages and working to restore power as swiftly as possible.

The National Weather Service had previously reported severe thunderstorms near Weatherford, which were moving east at 30 mph. Residents in Weatherford and nearby areas were advised to expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

A flash flood warning was also issued for Wise County, reminding residents to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads.

By 8:25 p.m., the NWS indicated that heavy rain and gusty winds were entering the DFW metroplex, prompting advisories for drivers to remain cautious.

As weather systems continued to develop, a Flood Watch was implemented across the metroplex, forecasting total rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with isolated heavier amounts through early Saturday morning.

Despite the severe weather, a break in activity is expected on Saturday afternoon, although another wave of lighter rain could return later that evening for parts of Dallas and surrounding counties.

With further rain anticipated throughout the weekend, weather officials are urging residents to stay updated and prepared as conditions evolve.
