Southern California Weather Alerts: High Heat and Flash Floods Expected

LOS ANGELES, California — Southern California is experiencing hot and humid conditions due to a high-pressure system moving in from the east. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the high desert region, effective through Wednesday at 11 p.m.

On Thursday, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 91 degrees in Los Angeles and Orange counties, with lows dropping to 65 degrees. As the week progresses, temperatures are set to cool down, returning to the mid-80s by early next week.

In the valleys and Inland Empire, the heat intensity will be noticeable with a forecast high of 97 degrees and a low of 70. It is anticipated that these areas will see highs fall to the low-90s by Friday. Meanwhile, beaches will experience cooler conditions with a high of 78 degrees and a low of 66, remaining in the 70s for the remainder of the week.

Mountain areas will have a high of 74 degrees and a low of 46, where there is a 30% chance of showers. Flash flooding remains a potential risk in this region as similar weather conditions are predicted for Friday.

Desert locations, such as Palm Springs, are bracing for extreme heat with a high of 98 degrees and lows around 67 degrees. There’s a 20% chance of thunderstorms, with Palm Springs expected to see highs reach 104 degrees.

The weekend forecast looks slightly cooler with partly sunny skies and temperatures anticipated in the low 90s.
