Trump Wraps Second UK State Visit, Highlights Political Talks
WINDSOR, England — President Donald Trump concluded his second state visit to the United Kingdom today with a farewell to King Charles III. The meeting took place at Windsor Castle before Trump headed to Chequers for discussions with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
During their handshake, Trump expressed his honor at being welcomed once again by the monarchy. The agenda for today’s discussions includes key topics such as the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and trade agreements.
Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump is engaging in royal activities. She is touring Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House with Queen Camilla before visiting the Squirrel Scouts. Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens between 1921 and 1924, is known for its intricate detail and is described as the largest and most famous miniature home.
The Royal Collection Trust noted that the house was crafted to reflect real life, featuring electricity, running water, and functioning lifts. Lutyens envisioned it as a “mini mansion” fit for a king.
Last night, Trump attended a banquet in St. George’s Hall with 160 guests, where he praised the U.K. for its hospitality. “It’s a singular privilege to be the first American president welcomed here,” he stated. No other U.S. president has been afforded a second state visit to the U.K., according to The Associated Press.
As Trump departed this morning, he called King Charles a “great gentleman, and a great King.” Melania is scheduled to join her husband at Chequers later today, marking the official close of their state visit.
