USA Network Renews ‘The Rainmaker’ for Second Season
NEW YORK, NY — The hit legal drama series “The Rainmaker” has been renewed for a second season by USA Network, just days after the first season concluded its finale on October 17, 2025. The new season is set to premiere in 2026.
Produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, the series is based on John Grisham‘s bestselling novel of the same name. Since its debut, “The Rainmaker” has become USAs most-viewed freshman series in seven years, averaging approximately 1.3 million viewers per episode.
Val Boreland, President of Entertainment at Versant, expressed enthusiasm for the renewal. “The verdict is in — ‘The Rainmaker’ is returning for season two on USA Network. Along with our brilliant showrunner Michael Seitzman and our partners at Lionsgate and Blumhouse, we’re thrilled to build on the momentum and deliver another compelling chapter of this gripping legal drama for our viewers,” Boreland said.
The first season stars Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor, a fresh law graduate who takes on legal challenges against his former employer while handling complex cases involving wrongful death. Other cast members include John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, and Robyn Cara.
Michael Seitzman serves as the executive producer and showrunner. The renewal is part of the network’s strategy as it begins operating as Versant, a spinoff media company of NBCUniversal’s cable assets.
The show aims to continue exploring legal battles intertwined with personal stories, with the creative team still brainstorming plot directions and character arcs for the upcoming season.
