Vat Savitri Vrat 2024: Shubh Muhurat and Puja Samagri List Revealed
The Vat Savitri Vrat, a significant Hindu fasting ritual observed annually during the Krishna Paksha of the Jyeshtha Maas on the day of Amavasya, is set to be celebrated on 6th June this year. Along with being Amavasya, it coincides with Shani Jayanti, adding further auspiciousness to the occasion.
Vat Savitri Vrat is observed by married women praying for the long life of their husbands. Additionally, in some regions, unmarried girls also perform this ritual in the hope of finding a suitable life partner, making the day quite significant for different sections of society.
For performing the Vat Savitri Vrat, specific puja items are essential. The auspicious timing for the puja falls during the Amrit Kaal, offering favorable periods from early morning till mid-morning for the worship. It is recommended to conduct the puja near a Banyan tree or its branch. However, in the absence of such a tree, a branch can be used for the rituals.
Among the necessary puja items are the Banyan tree or its branch, soaked black gram, bamboo fan, woolen thread dyed in turmeric (alternatively white thread dyed in turmeric), seasonal fruits, leaf of a banana tree for placing the puja samagri, incense sticks, rice grains, a vessel made of clay, red and yellow flowers, ghee, sindoor, roli, sweets, and new clothes for the day.
On the day of Vat Savitri Vrat, women traditionally wake up early, take a bath, and then adorn themselves with sixteen adornments. After gathering all the puja items, they visit the Banyan tree, perform the ritualistic 108 circumambulations around it, and follow all the prescribed procedures to complete the puja and observe the fast.
The Vat Savitri Vrat holds great cultural and spiritual significance in Hinduism, symbolizing devotion, longevity, and auspiciousness. The ritual is an expression of the deep bond between spouses and the aspirations for a harmonious and prosperous married life.
