The Voice Introduces Major Change for Season 28 Blind Auditions

Los Angeles, CA — ‘The Voice‘ is shaking things up for its 28th season with a significant rule change during the blind auditions. Coaches are preparing with unique strategies to select the best talent, and viewers can expect some surprises along the way.
This season, returning coach Reba McEntire, who skipped the last season, said she missed the thrill of hearing new voices and making impactful decisions. ‘It’s kind of a scary, powerful thing that you can turn around and make a difference in somebody’s life by saying yes or no,’ she stated during a roundtable discussion.
The show, which first aired in 2011 with iconic judges like Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine, has maintained its original premise. However, with coaches bringing personal mementos, such as Snoop Dogg‘s custom jewelry for his team, there’s a fresh energy in the air.
Kelly Clarkson, a veteran coach with four wins, added insights on the audition process. ‘I’ve been so into somebody and then once they’ve started talking, I was like, “Wow,”’ she explained, noting that compelling voices do not always translate to strong personalities on stage.
As blind auditions begin, there’s a new twist: host Carson Daly now has a role in the selection process. This season introduces the ‘Carson Callback’ card, allowing Daly to give an artist who didn’t receive a chair turn a second chance at impressing the coaches. ‘What left-field move is this?’ Snoop quipped about the new rule, which some coaches agreed could offer more opportunities for hidden talent.
Ryan Mitchell was the first contestant to benefit from this new opportunity and earned a spot on Team Reba after using the ‘Carson Callback’ card. This change adds an unexpected layer of drama and excitement to the auditions.
This long-running show has a proven track record, boasting nine Emmy awards, including four for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. ‘The Voice’ continues to captivate audiences with its fresh approach while holding onto the magic that has made it a fan favorite over the years.
