Salinas California Weather Alert

SALINAS, Calif. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a special weather statement for Salinas and nearby communities, warning of possible pea-sized hail and winds of up to 30 mph. This alert will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today.

The affected areas include Salinas, Spreckels, Marina, and Chualar, with potential impacts extending to Seaside, Castroville, Gonzales, and Carmel Valley. The NWS cautions that conditions could become rough, with heavy rain expected to occur briefly.

Residents are advised to move indoors or seek shelter in sturdy structures, secure any loose items outside, and drive cautiously, especially if hail or gusty winds develop. Minor flooding is possible in low-lying areas with poor drainage.

The agency also reminded drivers to be careful while traveling on Highway 68 under these conditions.
