Woman Rescues Abandoned XL Bully Dog and Raises Funds for Exemption Certificate
A woman’s act of kindness has saved the life of an abandoned XL bully dog, as well as raised funds for an exemption certificate. The 10-month-old male puppy was discovered distressed, cold, and malnourished in Ascot, Berkshire, putting him at risk of being euthanized. Justine Edmonds, the compassionate woman who found the dog, refused to let this happen.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Ms. Edmonds set up a crowdfunding page to gather financial support for the animal. In a heartwarming display of solidarity, the public has donated nearly £2,500 to assist in his rescue.
Ms. Edmonds, who has two Doberman dogs of her own, managed to secure temporary accommodation for the XL bully dog in Scotland. This geographical respite allows for a safer environment for the puppy while also giving Ms. Edmonds the opportunity to properly care for him.
However, owning an XL bully dog comes with new regulations. As of today, these dogs are required to be leashed and muzzled in public. Additionally, owning one without an exemption certificate is now illegal.
The government implemented these restrictions due to the disproportionate involvement of XL bullies in fatal dog attacks. Since the beginning of this year, there have been 23 deaths caused by dog attacks, with XL bullies being responsible for a significant portion of these tragic incidents.
Ms. Edmonds has stepped up to the challenge of caring for this breed, despite her own experience with Dobermans. She expressed her gratitude towards the public’s generous donations and explained that she has used the funds to cover the puppy’s vet check-up, microchipping, neutering, and the exemption certificate. Any additional contributions will go towards purchasing a muzzle and providing much-needed nourishment to the underweight animal.
The selfless actions of Ms. Edmonds and the supportive response from the community serve as a reminder of the power of compassion and the impact individuals can have on the lives of animals in need. As she continues to care for the XL bully dog, Ms. Edmonds exemplifies the importance of responsible pet ownership and the value of second chances.
