Friendly's Ice Cream Recall News

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a voluntary recall of Friendly's Ice Cream products after some were found to improperly contain Cookies & Cream ice cream instead of Vanilla Bean. This mix-up poses a serious risk to individuals with soy and wheat allergies.

The recall was triggered after the Cookies & Cream ice cream was inadvertently packaged in cartons labeled as Friendly’s Vanilla Bean, leading to the failure to disclose the presence of soy and wheat allergens on the label. Individuals with allergies could potentially experience severe or life-threatening reactions upon consumption.

The affected products include 324 cartons of 48 fluid-ounce Friendly’s Vanilla Bean ice cream sold in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Consumers are advised to check if the lid has the Cookies & Cream label and a “Best By” date of Nov. 26, 2025.

Currently, no other Friendly’s products have been implicated in this recall. For those affected, it is recommended to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers who intended to buy the Vanilla Bean ice cream are also eligible for refunds or replacements.

The FDA is monitoring the recall and has noted that there have been no illness reports related to this issue so far. People with further concerns can contact Friendly’s customer service at 800-587-2259. Consumers are encouraged to stay updated through FDA alerts for any developments regarding this recall.
