Santos and Corinthians Clash in Crucial Brazilian Matchup

SÃO PAULO, Brazil — Santos and Corinthians are set to face each other on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time) at Vila Belmiro for the 28th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. This match is crucial for both teams as they aim to improve their standings in the league.
After an unbeaten streak of five matches, Santos fell to Ceará last week, putting them dangerously close to the relegation zone in 16th place with 28 points. A victory against their rivals could boost their confidence and lessen the five-point gap between them and Corinthians, who sit in 12th place with 33 points after a 3-0 win against Mirassol.
“We need this win to breathe a little in the competition,” said Santos coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda. Despite struggling this season, the Peixe is determined to turn their fortunes around.
Corinthians, managed by interim Lucas Silvestre due to the absence of head coach Dorival Júnior, seeks to secure a stronger position ahead of the Copa do Brasil semifinals in December. They currently have eight wins in 27 matches and aim to maintain their qualification for the Copa Sul-Americana.
For Wednesday’s match, Santos will welcome back midfielder Victor Hugo, who has recovered from a thigh injury. However, they will miss Tomás Rincón, who sustained a calf injury, and Tiquinho Soares, who is suspended.
The expected lineup for Santos includes Gabriel Brazão in goal, supported by defenders Igor Vinícius, Adonis Frías, Luan Peres, and Escobar. The midfield will feature João Schmidt, Zé Rafael, Gabriel Bontempo, and Rollheiser, with Guilherme and Lautaro Díaz leading the front line.
Corinthians will start with Felipe Longo as goalkeeper after Hugo Souza was suspended and is on national duty. Their lineup also lists Matheuzinho, João Pedro Tchoca, Gustavo Henrique, and Fabrizio Angileri in defense, alongside Raniele, Maycon, and Breno Bidon in midfield, with Yuri Alberto and Gui Negão as forwards.
The match will be officiated by Flávio Rodrigues de Souza, with live broadcasts on TV Globo and Premiere. Both teams know the importance of this match, not just for points but for momentum as the season progresses.
