Children Bullying Awareness Unity Day

FORT PIERRE, S.D. — Stanley County Schools will host two special events aimed at promoting acceptance and drug prevention in the coming weeks.

First up is United Day on Wednesday, October 22. This event is part of a national movement encouraging students to stand against bullying and foster an environment of acceptance. Local businesses and community members are encouraged to participate by wearing orange, displaying orange decorations, and contributing messages to the school’s Unity Tree. Additionally, they can post supportive messages on the Stanley County School event page.

Following United Day, the schools will observe Red Ribbon Week from October 27 to 30. This week is recognized as the nation’s largest drug prevention campaign, where students will engage in themed dress-up days and wear red as a symbol of their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. They can also share their pledges on a drug-free pledge wall.

As part of Red Ribbon Week, the students will join the Miles in Quarters campaign, inviting local businesses to set out donation jars to help collect enough quarters to equal a mile. Those who have questions about the events can reach out to Nichole Hahn or Keely Bracelin at the Stanley County School District.
