Air Canada Expands US Routes with New Flights to Texas and Ohio

MONTREAL, Canada – Air Canada is set to add three new routes to its US-based network starting May 1, 2026. The airline will operate flights from Toronto to San Antonio, and from Montreal to both Cleveland and Columbus.
The Toronto to San Antonio route marks a first for Air Canada, providing travelers with direct access between Ontario’s largest city and Texas. San Antonio is known for its business and leisure attractions, which Air Canada aims to tap into by offering three weekly flights on the Airbus A220, a modern and fuel-efficient aircraft.
From Montreal, Air Canada plans to operate daily flights to Cleveland and Columbus using the Embraer E175 aircraft. These new services are designed to fill a gap in the market for both business travelers and tourists moving between Canada and these mid-sized US cities.
Air Canada’s route expansion reflects a thoughtful approach to meeting demand while maintaining controlled capacity. Daily services to Cleveland and Columbus will cater primarily to corporate travelers, in contrast to the leisure-oriented focus of the San Antonio route. Overall, the new routes will add approximately 1,475 weekly seats to the airline’s offerings, enhancing connectivity between the Midwest, South, and Canada.
The airline’s CEO, Michael Rousseau, emphasized that these additions represent Strategic growth, without exceeding current demand to ensure profitability. To avoid overshooting capacity, Air Canada is carefully analyzing factors such as corporate travel trends and the seasonal nature of the new routes.
Despite fluctuations in travel demand in recent years, statistics show that business travel remains robust, particularly between Canada and the U.S. In fact, the U.S. accounted for 79% of all business travel from Canada in the first six months of 2025. With this background, Air Canada remains committed to expanding its presence in the U.S. market.
These new flights aim to make it easier than ever for residents of San Antonio, Cleveland, and Columbus to connect with Air Canada’s expansive network, which includes over 50 destinations in the U.S. This development underlines Air Canada’s status as a key player in the transnational travel landscape and its ongoing commitment to enhancing service options for travelers.
