Bette Midler Joins Jonah Hill in Upcoming Comedy ‘Cut Off’

Los Angeles, California – Bette Midler, a two-time Oscar nominee, will star in the upcoming comedy film ‘Cut Off,’ alongside Jonah Hill and Kristen Wiig. Hill, who co-wrote the script with Ezra Woods, will also direct the film, set to start shooting this fall.
‘Cut Off’ revolves around two wealthy siblings, played by Hill and Wiig, who find themselves financially cut off from their parents. Midler will portray the family matriarch in this comedy that promises a mix of humor and poignant family dynamics.
The project is backed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is expected to be one of the few films shot in California, taking advantage of a $10 million tax credit that has made local filming more appealing. The film is scheduled for a global release on July 17, 2026.
Bette Midler’s career spans over six decades, beginning with her breakout performance in the 1979 drama ‘The Rose.’ She is also known for her roles in ‘Down and Out in Beverly Hills,’ ‘Beaches,’ ‘For the Boys,’ and ‘The First Wives Club.’ Midler has been recognized with multiple awards, including four Golden Globes and three Emmys.
Most recently, she starred in the sequel to Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus,’ which set streaming records on Disney+. She also appeared in films like ‘Sitting in Bars with Cake’ and ‘The Fabulous Four.’ Midler is represented by CAA and Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.
