2025 Emmy Nominations Highlight Comedy Series Competition

LOS ANGELES, CA — The 2025 Emmy nominations spotlight an exciting race for Best Comedy Series, led by Apple TV+’s new hit, The Studio. The series made history by securing 23 nominations in total, including four for its star Seth Rogen, who is in the running for lead actor, director, writer, and the series itself.
Senior editors from Gold Derby analyzed the nominations and concluded that The Studio is the frontrunner in the comedy category. The overwhelming number of nods demonstrates the show’s popularity and critical acclaim, particularly with the Acting Branch of the Television Academy, known for its significant influence.
In contrast, Hacks, last year’s champion, garnered 14 nominations, with only five recognizing its performers. Notably, Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder from Hacks are expected to be competitors for acting awards, with Smart aiming to repeat her success. However, Einbinder must navigate tough competition from other nominees like Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear and Catherine O’Hara from The Studio.
This year’s nominations saw a blend of established programs and emerging favorites, such as The Bear and Shrinking, both of which earned multiple nods. The Best Comedy Series race also includes Only Murders in the Building and Abbott Elementary, among others.
The predictions for the Emmys continue to build excitement as the industry anticipates the award ceremonies scheduled for September 14. This year’s nominations reflect the evolving landscape of comedy on television, presenting a rich array of talent and new narratives.
As awards season progresses, fans and analysts alike are eager to see who will take home the coveted Emmy awards, especially with so many standout performances vying for recognition.
