Heat Advisory: Central Florida Chases Triple-Digit Feels Today

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is bracing for a hot day today as feels-like temperatures soar into the upper 90s and reach triple digits in some areas. Meteorologist Kellianne Klass reported the weather conditions during a forecast update this morning.
Despite the fact that it is late September, the temperatures are hovering uncomfortably high, with a current feel factor of 81 degrees in Leesburg and 78 degrees in Sanford. While mornings may be mild, afternoon temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s, making it feel sweltering.
This afternoon, sea breeze showers could develop, but rain coverage is expected only to reach up to 40%. The best chances for rain are predicted to arrive between 5 PM and 6 PM. Thunderstorm activity may accompany these scattered showers, with potential for lingering rain through the evening.
Klass noted that beachgoers should be cautious today due to a westerly wind that may push shower activity toward the coast, making conditions less favorable for fun in the sun.
Looking ahead, the weather in Central Florida will remain warm and rainy into the upcoming weekend, with highs continuing to reach the lower and middle 90s. A front to the north may affect this area’s low pressure by blocking it from impacting local conditions, though uncertain factors still remain regarding the storm’s trajectory.
Forecasters are keeping an eye on a tropical weather system, designated Invest 94 L, which is currently moving across parts of Hispaniola. The storm could potentially develop into a tropical depression once it reaches the Bahamas, with predictions showing an 80% chance of development within the next week.
Current forecasts for the Atlantic hurricane season indicate that while precipitation should increase in Central Florida, the direct impact on the area remains uncertain. For now, residents are advised to enjoy the day while being vigilant of changing weather patterns.
