Indonesian Election Officials Preparing Tps For Local Elections

As Indonesia prepares for the upcoming local elections (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024, various regions are taking comprehensive measures to ensure the smooth and secure operation of Tempat Pemungutan Suara (TPS) or voting stations. In Karawang, West Java, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) is preparing thousands of polling station supervisors to oversee the voting process and prevent any irregularities.

In Kota Bandung, the Election Commission (KPU) has set up 10 special TPS locations, including those in hospitals and prisons, to facilitate voting for all eligible citizens. This initiative aims to ensure that every voter, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to participate in the elections.

In Cikarang Utara, Bekasi, a total of 302 Polling Station Supervisors (PTPS) have been officially inaugurated by the Chairman of the Cikarang Utara Sub-District Election Supervisory Committee, Yayat Rosidi. These supervisors will be stationed in 11 villages across the sub-district and are tasked with ensuring the integrity and fairness of the voting process. They have undergone technical guidance and training to understand their roles and responsibilities, which include monitoring and preventing any electoral fraud.

In addition to the inauguration of supervisors, simulations of the voting process have been conducted in various areas, such as Kota Tegal, to test the readiness of the TPS. The KPU in Kota Tegal organized a simulation at the Bahari Inn Hotel, focusing on a sample of voters from the Pesurungan Kidul sub-district. This exercise aimed to identify potential issues, such as overcrowding at voting stations, and to ensure that all necessary facilities, including seating and waiting areas, are available for voters.

Police units in several regions, including Nagan Raya, have also been involved in ensuring the security and smooth conduct of the oath-taking ceremonies for the polling station supervisors. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of the electoral process.
