Jefferson Parish Faces Widespread Power Outage Affecting Thousands
JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — More than 9,000 Entergy customers in Jefferson Parish woke up without power Monday morning. The outages began late Sunday night and left many residents in the dark.
According to Entergy’s outage map, power was lost to over 1,600 customers at one point, particularly in Kenner. An Entergy spokesperson confirmed the situation in a statement, saying, "We are aware of the outage in Jefferson Parish impacting approximately 1,600 customers. Crews are on the scene now working to make repairs as quickly and safely as possible. We anticipate the majority of customers will be restored shortly."
As of 6:02 a.m. Monday, the number of affected customers surged to over 9,000. There has been no update on when full power restoration will occur.
On Sunday, the outage was initially reported with expectations of restoration by 9 p.m. that evening, but the situation worsened overnight.
