Josh Duhamel London Calling

Los Angeles, CA – Josh Duhamel is taking on a new perspective on fatherhood after portraying a struggling dad in his latest film, “London Calling,” which hits theaters on Friday, September 19. Duhamel, 52, opened up about his personal reflections and the challenges of balancing work and family life in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.

“It was fun to look at some of the things that I could even do better as a dad,” said Duhamel. He acknowledged that his busy schedule often leaves him feeling guilty about not being more present for his two sons. “I work a lot, and I often have a lot of guilt about not being there as often as I could be,” he added.

Despite these feelings, Duhamel emphasizes the importance of setting an example for his children. He shares two sons: Shepherd, 20 months, with his fiancée Audra Mari, and Axel, 12, with his ex-wife, Fergie. “You’ve got to be setting an example,” he said, highlighting the constant struggle of parenting while pursuing a demanding career.

The film, set in Cape Town, Australia, showcases Duhamel as Tommy, a washed-up killer for hire. Tommy is forced to mentor an 18-year-old boy, played by Jeremy Ray Taylor, who is also navigating his own father issues. “There’s a lot of things I’m good at and a lot of things I need to work on,” Duhamel explained, noting that the story resonates with his experiences as a father.

“It’s a constant struggle in this business. It’s not easy,” Duhamel said, referring to the challenges of filming far from home. He emphasized that finding the right balance between personal life and acting roles is a recurring theme in both his life and the film.

The character of Tommy is not just a deadbeat dad, but reflects the complexity of fatherhood. “He’s probably had some arrested development and never quite measured up,” Duhamel said. The film’s narrative explores the unexpected bond that forms between Tommy and Julian, highlighting the importance of mentorship in their lives.

As Duhamel prepares for the release of “London Calling,” he remains focused on his role as a father. He recognizes the crucial support he receives from both Mari and Fergie in raising their children. Duhamel concluded, “We all have to work together to make sure that this thing works.” With laughter and reflection, he looks forward to sharing the film with audiences and continuing to grow as a dad.
